Puerto Morelos is a quiet mexican town situated between Cancun and Playa del Carmen in the Quintana Roo state. This little charming town counts a population of about 9,200 people and attracts families from all over the world.
Its central location between 2 main cities is perfect for a quiet lifestyle with all the necessities nearby. The town is divided in 2 parts separated by the main highway – the port side, next to the sea, and the colonia side situated a 5 minute drive fron the beach. Spanish is mainly spoken here English is becoming more prevalent in the region.
Puerto Morelos Real Estate, among the earliest communities in the region, is a traditional fishing village also provides a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the bigger tourist places near.
This area is on the east side of the Highway and is what is most familiar to tourists of Puerto Morelos. At its widest, it is 3 blocks deep from the beach. Any property in this area is close to the beach and is walking distance to the Town Square (maximum 10 minute walk). Residential homes are found in this area, along with the Town Square and many of Puerto Morelos’s restaurants and shops. Public beach accesses in this neighborhood are plentiful and the beaches are groomed by the town of Puerto Morelos regularly.
This neighborhood is everything west of the Highway, the oldest part of the village of Puerto Morelos. You’ll find lots of local shops in this area. It includes the more remote, jungle area of the Zona Urbana, along with newer, numerous subdivisions. Bike, Taxis, Rental Car, or Collectivo Minibus (in some areas) is a great way to navigate in the areas either side of the highway and to the Portside.
A dive trip to Puerto Morelos allows you to explore a dozen sites, most of them in the Puerto Morelos Marine Park. Here, divers can observe all the underwater fauna of the Caribbean such as nurse sharks, angelfish, stingrays, barracudas, and green morays..
These sites are accessible to all levels of divers. Diving in Puerto Morelos is possible all year round. Nevertheless, the season is optimal for wildlife from November to March. The water temperature varies between 26°C in winter and can reach 30°C in summer. Visibility varies from 20 to 60 meters.
Also, several other opportunities to dive in the Riviera Maya including the Cenotes in Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, the island of Cozumel Marine Park, Playa del Carmen and MUSA-the Underwater Museum in Cancun/Isla Mujeres.

This is a small paradise, hidden away from other popular Rivera Maya destinations, and known to only a few. You will feel worlds away from daily live when sitting on Maroma Beach, and witness the true tranquility of the Caribbean Ocean, pristine white sandy beaches with a backdrop of a tropical landscape and where the sargazo almost never reach.
There are no public beach access points at Maroma Beach, which makes it more difficult to visit if you’re not staying at one of the Maroma Beach hotels.
Punta Maroma is located about 30 minutes north of Playa del Carmen on Mexico’s Caribbean coast in the state of Quintana Roo. The nearest airport is Cancun International Airport, which is about a 45-minute drive from Maroma Beach.
